Idk I personally think leaving their goaltending to chance most years is the issue. Sometimes it’s worked out but usually even good finds like Campbell flame out or get hurt

They had a really good goalie in Andersen. They ran him out if town because he couldn't carry the whole team. He faced the most shots multiple seasons in a row. Toronto averaged the most shots against for a few seasons and they just blamed Andersen cause he's let in a weak one here or there. They also played him like 60 games a season.

I was more referring to post Freddy with Campbell Mrazek Murray Sammy etc. some had good stretches but ultimately seemed like injuries and/or inconsistency plagued them all especially when it mattered most. I thought Sammy panned out well but to not have a more reliable option than Murray was malpractice imo.

So JT is going nowhere.

I know what you mean. If they keep Freddy they don't acquire any of those guys. Maybe as a 1B option but that's all. Although Freddy has had some injuries plague him as well.

Yep, also some risk there but his ceiling is more of a known at least. I’m wondering what canes do with him. His playoff play was stellar and earned a deal but he also scared me every time he gets up slow which is a lot over the course of a season lol

Pretty similar. No big injuries but a couple of minor ones and can’t really count on him playing consecutive games. Freddy makes more sense to return if not both guys. Koochie could be real deal but they can’t bank on it and only have one of Freddy or Raanta could be dangerous from injury perspective.

I’d be interested to see which route they go. Could see Freddy getting a better offer elsewhere and Raanta staying. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them explore the market for guys like Varly or some trade targets.
