- Marner trade is assumed a sign-and-trade
- Though this looks underwhelming, Saros is top-tier and it takes money off the books for some key pieces. Nashville has Askarov and loves the firepower up front.
- Yes. The Leafs lose the trade, but you don’t win trades when you are the one trading 100+ point guys.
- Domi in, Bertuzzi out. Domi showed great chemistry with Matthews in the mid-late season and banked home primary assists like crazy. Bertuzzi struggled early and hardly improved. Didn’t crash the net enough or win much along the boards.
- Lindholm lost a lot of value this season and I would be hard-pressed to believe he won’t try and bet on himself for some kind of bigger contract. Not many better teams than the Leafs to try that out on
- Pesce is your big swing. Defensive-minded top-4 guy who plays good shutdown hockey.
- Lauzon is a solid physical defender to replace the Edmondson/Lyubushkin-type
- Robertson, Dewar, Gregor, and Liljegren don’t require a lot to sign.
And there you have it. Another quick note is that McMann looked very solid in a top-6 role before being injured and if he shows he can play big again, Lindholm can be moved to a 3C role given his prime defensive play while Knies and McMann flank Tavares. Couple of guys good at board battles to get the puck to the net on a tip in big JT. Sounds pretty nice.
