The Canes signed Orlov for a couple of major reasons. 1) to replace Skjei, and 2) to be the bridge that draws Niksihin over. Trading him this offseason will go against those 2 reasons of signing him.

Not to mention, Gaudreau hasn’t been the same since he left Calgary. Maybe if he starts playing like more than half his contract value, teams might show some interest. Canes don’t have the roster space (assuming Guentzel is re-signed) nor the cap space to waste on a player who has already regressed by 55 points in the span of 2 years.
