Description
With a bevy of UFAs/RFAs, whom should the Canucks sign and how do they massage the cap?? A lot of Canuck fans will absolutely hate this take on who or what they should pursue. While they give up some skill (Hronek, Garland, Hogs and Suter), they gain a fair bit more size and tenacity. Any way you slice it, something will have to give.

1. Canucks should try to leverage Poolman's LTIR status to obtain one of Vegas's D. A win/win for both teams. Korczak or Hague would probably be more preferable, but Whitecloud is likely what Vegas may prefer as they gain 5.25 in much needed cap relief. Hirose and Aman are cheap, but serviceable depth.

2. Utah is believed to be looking to make a splash, they have draft picks and prospects in abundance. Hronek adds a young top end puck moving RD (an organizational weakness), Garland is a play driving winger and Truscott is an older D prospect that provides immediate depth. Canucks get a very good young winger, a bottom 6 forward and a project C. Utah does not give up a premium prospect (Cooley, Geekie, Doan or any D), but adds two late seconds to the trade to even out the value. Canucks do this only because they cannot resign both Zadorov and Hronek.......so one has to go.

3. Montreal gets two cheap middle six impact forwards with excellent possession stats and a young C prospect. Baron and Struble are moved to make room for higher end D prospects in their system. Canucks add some young D they need and can possibly develop.

Not sure how good the values are with the UFA contracts...some may be low, some maybe high.....?

Guenther isn’t going anywhere, he’s ahead of doan and geekie in the pecking order

IMO Mtl would like the idea of flipping to 2 Dman for 2 Forwards, not sure about the 3rd and Suter but if that's what it takes to get Vancouver to say yes, they probably do it

VAN wouldn’t offer that either, just a trade who doesn’t make sense
