No they aren’t. They have $9M in cap space for next season and that’s counting Landeskog. Will someone like Colton get moved, very possibly but they would be if they wanted to re-sign Trenin at a lower cap hit than Colton.

Firstly the Avs are about the last team to want Marner with a plethora of top 6 capable wings already. Secondly they're about the last team because of cap space. Thirdly they're not going to give up those pieces for 1 year of a guy they can't afford to re-sign and even if they could afford it they still wouldn't be going to give up those pieces.

They have to sign Mittelstadt, who will cost more than $5mil per they’re gonna have to lose Colton + Manson (or comparable Cap hits) AND try to find a way to replace them

They absolutely CAN NOT fit in Marner

They 100% couldn’t fit Marner nor would they want to. Colton yes probably but that’s it. Mittlestadt at say your number of $5M, that leaves $4.7M, if they move a Colton for picks that’s $8.7M. Trenin (or an equivalent 3C) bets $2.5M (over 50% raise), leaving $6.2M for 2 4th liners under a $1M each leaving $4.2-4.5M, Malinski, Johnson(equivalent), Jones (Equivalent) leaves $1.4-$1.8M for a 13th forward or some more money for Mittlestadt. One move. They aren’t moving a top 4 dmen for cap space, Walker is walking that’s kind of a forgone conclusion since day 1.
