Why not? Byram's contract is ending soon and you are going to have to pay him close to Power's... so you're going to have 3 defensemen making almost $30 million?

I would hope the Jones for Marner trade doesn't happen. Seth Jones is a good player but not a $9.5 million dollar hit for the next 6 years.

And I would say the same about Marner. Good player but not worth $12m+ for 8 years.

I find it highly unlikely Hawks accept unless they have another trade in place to move Murphy.

Because power is better than Byram and more valuable than marner? Who says that Byram gets paid as much?

Because he is a 22 year old top 4 defensemen with a Stanley Cup ring. he will get at least 7 on the open market

They have figured out Utah wont take their cap dumps so its san jose taking them for free.
