Toronto almost has to get rid of one or else they will need ELC contracts for more than half of their roster. Tavares seems untradeable and Marner just makes the most sense. Really hope GMBM finally gets really aggressive and pays whatever it takes

i'll agree that the Leafs need more ELCs. They only two on the roster. June 2025, the Leafs have no picks in the first four rounds. So the Leafs will be win mode next season. But the four NMCs for their top forwards so highly unlikely any get traded. If the Leafs had really wanted to make a "cap change" in 24/25 they wouldn't have extended Nylander to his new 11.5m X 8 contract
Instead of ELCs, due to so many picks being traded away at TDL, the Leafs have depended on cheap UFA signings, which isn't the best way to do things.
In 25/26, Tavares will likely be gone, as maybe Marner....which will free up cap. Leafs hope to four have ELCs....Cowan, Minten, Grebykin and Webber on the NHL roster. But guys like Knies, Woll, Holmberg and maybe a few more will be needing raises.

Pretty crazy that BMac got 3 draft picks (2nd, 3rd, 4th) for 2 healthy scratches in the playoffs (kuzy and mantha)

My most wanted offseason moves:

1. Trade for Marner, acquiring elite talent is our only chance to successfully retool instead of rebuild, however I find it highly unlikely we trade for him and we will be heading for a rebuild
2. Get Leonard signed and on the opening night roster
3. Sign Stevie, mostly nostalgia but I also love his game and he adds much needed speed
4. Trade for a young top 6 prospect (holtz, rossi)
5. Trade for Buch
6. Sign Reinhart/Guentzel, Ill include these two together as I expect both to re-sign but they would be fun
7. Sign Debrusk
8. Sign Pesce or a physical top 4 D, needed but my primary focus this offseason is on increasing scoring
9. Trade Kuemper without paying, this is unlikely and I dont hate kuemper and his contract enough to pay to move him but there are a few goaltending desperate teams who we could prolly work out a trade with where we do not have to give up a top 3 round pick
10. Trade for Zegras, I think this would cost more than hes worth. But Im fine with it as long as Leonard isnt in the deal which he wouldnt be.

Only difference for me is I'm separating Guentzel and Reinhart and moving sign Guentzel up to 3rd, otherwise matches up pretty much exactly

A world where we add Marner, Leonard, and Guentzel would be amazing. So unlikely but so fun

This run is gonna turn Miro into a problem. So good for his development

IDK what Tampa is doing bringing McDonough back but Cirelli is now my new #1 target

Cirelli is obviously a well rounded player but what makes him your number one target? Would be a great addition but I crave more elite scoring

I think out of the guys theoretically available (Necas, Ehlers, Marner, Rossi) Tampa is the team that would be looking for the kinds of assets we actually have -- cheaper, NHL proven but lower ceiling young guys. I don't think you could get any of the other four just straight up for McMichael, for instance

My guess for most realistic offseason:

We add Domi or Duclair (maybe both)

We make a small trade for depth forward or depth defenseman.

That's it.

I feel we are in a rare opportunity to have a successful retool and still have our top three prospects but I expect the front office to do the boring (but smart) thing and pretty much bandaid a roster to help ovi score and focus on the future

Hoping bmac actually does smth to change this team up a bit and compete. Get a major piece and a few smaller once. But we need a big ticket item

Agreed, with the cap space and having all of our firsts I think we can get an elite top line forward and sign a top 6 forward

Man Miro and Lapierre have looked great for Hershey

Not quite sure exactly how to quantify it, but something tells me that putting Miro with Roe has been huge for him. Just looks more comfortable when they're both out there, and in general Miro looks other-wordly in person.
