As much as I would hate to see Ehlers go I would love to see him on a team like the Canes. They play with speed and skill and I think that is just what Ehlers needs. As a Jets fan I would do this deal. Also If this deal happens (which I think it could) I hope Carolina would play him on the left side. Yes he can play right side but he is better on the left.

Agree with all of the above and I'd love to target Necas. The only thing I have a hard time with is parting with Samberg...I feel like I value him higher than most.

I really, really like Ehlers. It's probably an overpayment, purely because of the extensive injury history.

Pass on signing Drury, Stephenson, or Monahan for that much, I'd rather just have Kuznetsov and Kotkaniemi on the team. Staal should be bought out before KK anyway.

Not a chance Winnipeg does that. They're not retaining on a similar although older player and giving away a promising young defenseman for a winger looking for a big raise.

Necas is okay, but doesn't have that much value.

I also value Samberg very high. But TNSE is more than likely going to sign Dillon to a new contract and Ville needs to play in the NHL next season. So Samberg might be on the out. I hate saying that because I think we should NOT sign Dillon and have J-Mo, Samberg and Ville as our left side D next season.



You're hilarious. Necas is a great player. He also fills a need for the Jets for a top 6 RW. Also Necas is a RFA and the only way we can sign a player like that is if he has no other options. Kind of like Vilardi was last year. Like I mentioned above TNSE is more than likely going to sign Dillon to a new contract so that will probably mean Heinola or Samberg are on the way out. I would rather have Heinola over Samberg if the Jets re-sign Dillon.

Saying he's okay isn't a bad thing, he's just not a star or a difference maker and fills no need for the Jets. It's basically a lateral move for a younger and what will be more expensive player. A retained Ehlers is nowhere near a young projected top 4 defenseman difference in value. That's outright silly.

If Ehlers is moved it needs to be to fill a hole. They can't keep doing the same things over and over and ignoring the holes that they have.
