<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>On the contrary . . . career PPG is an excellent way to determine player value when the three similar-aged players concerned all have 5 seasons in. Cam Atkinson has 13 seasons in 14 years and is 34 years old, so the comparison is so unrelated as to be intellectually dishonest.</div></div>
Young players fall off sometimes.
Using an example that hits close to home, Galchenyuk was only 25 when he completely fell off. Using the career ppg to determine his value back in 2020 would have been completely deceiving for teams, as they would have paid a 1st+ for a guy that was worth approximately a 3rd at the time of the PIT-MIN deal.
Using the ppg of the last 2-3 years is a good indicator, but not the whole career.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Farabee is a 0.54 PPG player and Frost is a 0.48 PPG player, and both are left-handed. Zegras is younger, doesn't cost much more than Farabee and is a 0.73 PPG player despite his injury-riddled 2023-2024 season. Anaheim passes.
I think that it will take Tyson Foerster and your 2024 first to get Zegras out of Anaheim.</div></div>
To your logic, Cam Atkinson is a 0.62 ppg player. Career ppg is one of the worst stats to use to determine player value.

Habs Acquire Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheReelChuckFletcher</b></div><div>I was proposing a risk-for-risk trade, where both teams take on a different sort of risk. The fact that both guys think that they're natural centers but have had questions surrounding their ability to do so by respective coaching staffs is what gave me this idea.</div></div>
The risk seems a lot bigger for MTL. Although Dach cannot win faceoffs to save his life, his aspect of center is still better than Necas, due to his amazing 2-way game. Dach is a pretty consistent guy as well, and his only risk is his health. Necas has more flaws in his games (especially defensively, and aspects of physicality), with less time to "fix them" being 2 years older.

I agree, not necessarily the right deal for these teams.
And ye, saying he wants to play center won't make team give out a center-priced package away.

If Necas isn't going to help fix the CAR 2C problem, then CAR fans should stop advertising him as a center. Cause he's not the 1st one to do that either

There is no other team in the NHL that wants to give what "ANA wants"
This deal is actually an enticing deal for the "other team", but it is allegedly way under ANA's asking price, which will not be matched by anyone

For the 2nd trade, as <a href="/users/Windjammer" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Windjammer</a> said, we ain't dumping Anderson that easily.
However, I do find the NSH trade interesting. I think RHP is a guy who fits very well in NSH's bottom 6, and I could see that trade happening

My Crack at it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GDubb2Shiesty</b></div><div>I think MTL is in a tough spot unless Demidov falls to 5 which seems highly unlikely. I think they go Iginla, but i'd have a tough time picking Lindstrom over Catton since Catton had similar a similar goal pace and a higher assist rate than Lindstrom. Adding the injury concerns, I think Gorton and Hughes stay away from him in the top 5. His ceiling is insanely high but the risk might not be worth it with Iginla or Catton there</div></div>
I somewhat agree, with the risk actually being risky. But Catton is absolutely not the type of guy MTL likes. He's a lower-intensity guy, and will likely be a poor playoff performer. There are risks with Lindstrom's injury being chronic, but with the ceiling he has, I don't think MTL passes on that. I think if they were to pass on him, it would be for Iginla, who fits in way more than Catton

putting aside injuries, he would be a top 3 lock. Obviously injuries occurred, but it is highly unlikely he drops farther than 5 (MTL clearly takes him over Catton). Maybe, maybe 7 if MTL decides to take Iginla over Lindstrom

Nurse might even be a worse cap dump than Anderson, but for the sake of this, let's say they are even. Matheson for a 2nd is a huge undervalue

But honestly, one direction or another, I still doubt the Blues pick at 16.</div></div>
Personally, I think Jiricek will be fine as a player in the NHL, but risky in terms of staying healthy. TBF, in general, European players are more risky then NA players, since they need to adapt to NA. But all things considered, Jiricek would be a very fine pick for STL, if they are at 16
