I don't think trading them a player with a cap hit of 4,8M is really helping to be honest. They are more looking for players like Newhook, Dach, Roy, Harris, Struble and Mailloux.</div></div>
Hurricanes won’t be re-signing very many players. They need guys who help them now like Matheson who has a very reasonable contract, one of the best in the league. Necas cap hit leaves in this deal, Pecse isn’t returning, Skjei probably isn’t either

That’s too rich. If they’re getting a player as good as Matheson they won’t be getting much with him.

I’m pretty sure they would. He hasn’t worked out there, his value is tanked, would free up almost 3 mill in cap space, they’ve scratched him a ton, he’s a ufa in 1 year.

CORRECTED of PRIOR
Value wise it’s pretty close, I think you can remove either Kapanen/Harris OR the first. Canes would likely do it, Habs probably wouldn’t. Mailloux is going to be a very valuable player, yes you have to give to get but this will weaken our right side to much. I don’t see a scenario where we get Necas.

That’s an overpay for Necas. You’re not trading for what you think he might be, you’re trading for what he is and that’s a 60 point 2nd line winger.

Wtf is this? Habs give up the much younger, better player and also gives up the better pick? This is laughable. You’re not getting Guhle for Ehlers. Ehlers is a net negative player in the playoffs also, might as well not even put him on the ice.

Yeah you could go either way. It’ comes down to contract length for me. Toffoli could get a 3-4 year deal. Could probably have Perron at 1-2 years. Less risky and keeps more flexibility.

Slafkovsky is going to be a superstar. You watch him once and you will realize that.
Zegras is a talented player, he could become a secondary guy that you want to shelter on a 2nd line, or he could become a Panarin, Pastrnak level player. It’s up to him. What I know is you’re not getting a top 5 pick or equivalent for him. He was picked 9th. If the Ducks could redo that they would pick someone else. They’ll get a very good return, but it’ll most like be for a top 4 right D almost straight up, or for a collection of futures. Depends what someone is willing to offer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>In 31 games, 11 of which he was healthy, Zegras was a -1 in plus/minus with 15 takeaways and 16 giveaways. In the final 11 games that he was healthy, he scored in line with his career rate and was a +4. As for his counting stats behind down, he had Osteitis Pubis most of the season, same thing that kept Logan Couture out all year.
Turnovers are down, takeaways are up, +/- is way up, some might call that <strong><em>Player Development</em></strong></div></div>
Plus minus is a mostly irrelevant stat that requires a lot of context. Those takeaway rate is normal for him. The giveaways is a good sign but it’s a short sample. Overall he has a really bad season.

You know what Zegras is. He’s an overrated black hole away from the puck and even when he has the puck he constantly turns it over to avoid contact. We all know the positives about his game, but those mean nothing unless the negatives disappear. That’s not guaranteed to happen.
There is a reason they’re going to trade him. Anaheim fans want to act like he’s Pastrnak… he’s FAR closer to Laine,

We've been over the pieces that would be of interest on the habs roster. This year's top 10 pick, Reinbacher, or slafkovsky. Outside of those pieces, we've no interest in loosing Zegras, one of them would be required as the base of the trade.</div></div>
Even bringing up Slafkovsky is insulting.

Doesn’t matter what he thinks though. If they want to trade him they will and with him currently on the 3rd pairing making 8 mill they will probably want to sooner than later. Especially with Schneider there to take his spot.

I’m not a big fan of Zegras, but if management wants to acquire him it will be because they think St. Louis can get him to another level with his play away from the puck. If they do this is the type of package I would want us to trade for him, rather than Guhle like some have suggested.
He would easily be the most skilled player on our roster, it’s all about whether or not he’s willing to improve his overall game. We won’t trade for him unless we’re convinced he will.
