Wheeeew - fair deal I guess as two talented guys can hope a change of scenery unlocks more of their talent, but damn I thought Chucky would be more costly for any team to acquire. Chayka deserves the W here if galchenyuk becomes even a second line force.
why swap a left-handed winger for another winger left-handed winger....damnit we already got a ton of those. Is it too hard to use a valuable asset like Chucky to fill our weaknesses? Bergefail at it again.

Imo in terms of value it's an even deal but I'll give the edge to Arizona since I think mtl could have used galchenyuk to fill a team need (centres). The last thing mtl needs is another winger.

Here are two players who are left-wingers, but who are very different in style of play:
Alex Galchenyuk is a good scorer, who has a heck of a one-timer and who will be very useful for the Arizona Coyotes on the power play. Their power play was 26th in the league. Montreal was 13th. Hopefully Galchenyuk will unlock their power play. He is also a talented setup man. However, he has defensive shortcomings and as a center (and a left-winger), he was prone to bad turnovers.
This is where Max Domi comes in. He is stronger on the forecheck and is a better playmaker. He fits more in their culture.
In the end, both teams got what they wanted. It's just that they both have too many left wingers and they still have a lot to fix.
WE'LL SEE !!!
Three years in a row I was certain that a player on the Canadiens wasn’t going to be traded. 3 years in a row they are traded in 1 for 1s. I guess I should stop being surprised. This is a typical Bergevin “character” trade.
Domi could very well end up being a better player than Chucky in the future. That does not change the fact that Montreal could have and should have gotten more in return for Galchenyuk.
Given the fact that the Habs have seemingly swapped out skill players for guys with more grit (Galchenyuk for Domi, Subban for Weber, Eller for Shaw, Andrighetto for Martinsen, etc) it leaves me to believe that Brady Tkachuk has a very good chance of going at 3
My homer side agrees with you; I also thought Galchenyuk could have provided us something like a decent D or even a 2nd line center with some size. Considering the guy's got issues, he did need a chance of scenery.
Domi is a character player with a great all around game; some sort of a blend between Gallagher and Drouin. He surely is to me a good 2nd liner for years to come and yes should be expected to receive a 3.5 - 4 M for some 4 years.
Fair trade I think, see how it plays out in 2-3 years. Galchenyuk may very well not resign in Arizona by then...
Domi is younger.. Will be Cheaper.. Puts up around the same points with worse teammates. Chucky has a drug problem (oops). Best of luck Chucky but I think MTL wins this one
