Ottawa can't afford to pay 3M for a third pairing dman. Pinto will sign for less coming off suspension. Jost isn't worth anything close to that. 6 years for Stephenson is a huge risk for no reason. EDM doesn't pay up for a under preforming goalie and a player who hasn't proven much at the NHL level yet. The return for Norris isn't nearly as high as the Senators would want it to be, and the term and price is a risk for Colorado. Stolarz is a pointless signing if you just signed Soogard for 1.9M, which he hasn't proven enough to merit.

It would actually very much depend on their cap situation, so they probably do because the cap exists for the Avs. Even with moving Manson and Ryjo there's little space once Landy comes back. They'd be around about 5 mil over the cap the following season.

I agree with you the Avs do it, I disagree with you about Manson being a cap dump. He’s been great in COL but he missed last year and he is a RHD, Johansen is on pace for 20 goals and has been a poor fit stylistically in COL at worst he is cap neutral.
