Is there any rhyme or reason to this? For instance: Why would Ovi have Buffalo on his NTC? There's not much to say in terms of animosity between him and any players in Buffalo, same with Carlson and Oshie.

1. It's a guessing game that I have fun with.

I make these lists for all 32 teams right after each team finishes their season.

For something like this, wikipedia can be fairly helpful.



2. Buffalo has missed the playoffs for 13 straight years.

They have the longest playoff drought of any team in the NHL.

For someone like Ovi, scoring goals against Buffalo is fairly easy and it has been that way throughout most of Ovi's playing career.

It's also a crumby city to live in with urban decay and brutal winter weather so harsh that the entire stadium where the Bills play is often submerged in snow.
