Get the wingers out to make space for Coranato and Pelletier

Description
I was thinking about how important developing Pelletier and Coronato in the right slots is and I came to realize that Kuzmenko and Mang have to go at any cost. Which is a bit painful but I’d rather start the season with the two young guys properly slotted.

We need one young Dman to be ready and develop in a rebuilding season. I think that player is Poirier. Doubtful we draft or trade for a better one than him. I’m hopeful they do something like this Maatta deal rather than try to bring in a legit top 4 vet dman… because I want one year of tank please!!

Looks like a full roster without a player returned in the Markstrom deal. Which isn’t Conroy’s style. So I guess I’m hoping for a Dman in the return. The top 9 looks full to me and this is with two (miracle/unlikely) winger deals

Added the Markstrom / Maatta type deal. I dislike pushing Poirier out of the lineup (or the Dman besides Poirier that wins the spot in camp). But I do like that Maatta could return a third at the deadline. Detroit won’t want to add to their cap so they will probably require that we take on one or two Dmen.

I don’t love that adding Berggren pushes Coranato out of the top six.

This team needs two roster cuts. One of Pachal or Okoochook on the waiver wire if everyone is healthy.

Gotta figure out what to do with schwindt too, he's no longer waiver exempt next season either.

Mangiapane deal doesn't seem like that much of a homer deal. Leafs are moving back 17 spots in 2024 for another 2nd and a winger with a very competitive salary after retention. I'd do that if I was the Leafs and had interest in Mangiapane.

That Mangiapane deal favours the Leafs Big Time

No Thanks to this. Pelletier & Coronato need to earn those spots by unseating those guys, not just giving them to them

Make a Pelletier-???/Zary/Pospisil/Schwindt-Coronato 4th Line if you want, but they still gotta prove themselves before getting Top-9 roles

Would be interesting to have a Scoring 4th Line with Greer, Hunt, Rooney, Duehr or Klapka as the 2 Scratches when we need more Muscle and Physicality

I could see a deal around Mang half retained and maybe some defensive depth for pick swaps. We know Tree is willing to move down if the math says he is adding pick equity value.

The two seconds for the late first is probably net positive (I haven’t looked at that pick equity chart in awhile!)

So Mang is essentially free in that deal. From Calgary’s perspective, I would rather hunt down players we really like in the late first than gamble on the second rounders but that’s moreso personal preference.

First of all Kuzmenko has value, Mangiapane has value. You can get more for them with retention.

Mangiapane at 50% retention is probably worth a 2nd, so that first deal doesn't make much sense unless the Flames absolutely love a player available @23.

I think the Flames are taking on too much deadweight with the Markstrom deal, even though the 1st is nice.

I don't love moving Miromanov, because I think he has more potential than Poirier to become a top 4D in the league.

I also think that Kuzmenko will be the better(higher skilled) winger than either Pelletier(Mangiapane is his ceiling IMO), or Coronato(I see him becoming similar to Toffoli). I would want to see more of him, and potentially resign him, or trade him at the TD after he improves his value. Again, I could see the MIN deal going through only if the Flames absolutely love a player @13.
