$9.5 million to be in Florida is probably equal to asking for $12 million to stay in Toronto.

Ekblad scares Florida management by considering UFA and they wonder about his future player decline and health status. Leafs sign him for 8 years at $9.5 million.

Ekblad grew up HATING the Leafs he was a big-time Dead things fan and his off season house is 15 minutes from Little Caesars arena in Windsor. According to a friend who knows the Detroit area well.

Nope some dude who lives outside Tampa but lived in Detroit until he was 28 . They talked about his hatred for Toronto and love for Detroit as a kid on an inside the Panthers thing.

I'm guessing you decline because he don't like either one of Ekblad or Knight >?

Ekblad is a legit #1RD the Leaf fans dream of. But I'm concerned about his player decline/health(a future M.E. Vlasic ) , so you'd get maybe 4-5 good seasons but 3-4 bad seasons with him. While I think Marner stays a ppg player through out that 8 yr contract.

The Marner to Florida thought, Panthers giving up assets sounds funny anyhow, as they can just overpay to keep Reinhart to stay.
