Soderstrom is t a bad option to take a swing at, he certainly hasn't come along like people expected.

Care to elaborate? Do you think contracts are way off? Do you think trade value is way off? What don't you think so?

To be clear, this is what I'd WANT to see happen (shed some older dead weight / youth movement), not what I think WILL happen.....

Contracts would a dream for Mo and Razor. Yzerman isn't putting that much youth into the line up. If I had to pick one its Kasper others will be filled with UFA's and maybe hopefully Kane. In addition they can buyout Holl for cheaper than that and keep the draft pick.

Yzerman stated that Kasper is not NHL ready. So it's very unlikely he gets a spot next year.

I believe I'm close on both, but if either or both are higher, there's still cap space remaining to cover that. I agree Yzerman isn't putting that much youth into the lineup. That doesn't mean he shouldn't.

As for Holl, I'd rather have $1.36M on the books for 2 years than $1.13M for 4 years. And a 4th round pick? Very little value given up there. The trade makes much more sense here. The question is, would any other team make that trade? If not, then yes, buy him out, but that's last resort, not the preferred option.
