Cap Hits from Evolving Hockey

Created by: Leafsfan789
Team: 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 9, 2024
Published: May 9, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
All contract lengths and AAV are using evolving hockeys projections, I think some players will get longer terms but contracts are about right as a collective. Don’t care enough to find a good 4th liner for cheap but left over cap used for that. I think this team has a much better defense, slightly better and deeper forwards with the same level of goaltending.

Congrats on creating a wild card hopeful team rather than a Stanley Cup hopeful team.

To act like a reasonable person in comments, which is hard to do for many on this site, I would say that the free agent signings are strong except the goalie gamble. If Woll isn't healthy, and he has never been healthy for long as a Leaf, then Lank is a big step down, maybe even from Martin Jones.
My main concern is trading Marner for Clayton Keller to be a third liner. He is expensive for a 30 goal scorer, and means far less Marner cap relief that might be spent on Brossoit or Stolarz as tandem partner with Woll.

Not like Zadorov is a top 4 dman on a team that was 5 points off presidents. Goaltending is iffy but good enough for regular season and can upgrade at deadline if needed but if woll is healthy i feel confident starting him in playoffs.

Keller wouldnt actually be a third liner, same way Willy was on the third line. Spread out the attack, load up sometimes 5 on 5 and all top guys get PP1. As far as goaltending I’m thinking could go with a cheaper D instead of zadorov and put money on the goalies u mentioned. I rlly like woll but see the doubt

Again we dont need a third pair D in Zadorov, and Goaltending is an important position and you want to gamble on someone who in 5 straight years has not stayed healthy

Ok I could get behind getting a worse dman and putting money towards a decent goalie

I don't think his play for Vancouver is third line calibre compared to Toronto's blue line squad this year.

He's a third pair guy on every team he's been on

He may look good here and there but there's a reason teams have him on the third pair.

And TOR blue line was fine in terms of physicality and presence. Just did not have more puck movement which is something he dont do all that well lul
