I really don't think NYI wants to make that deal with a divisional rival, and having a guy making more than Geno and Tanger on the 4th line is less than ideal.
We don't need both Driedger and Murray when Blomqvist was one of the AHL's best goalies and could very well beat both guys for the backup spot.

If the Islanders want to trade Anders Lee to create $7 million in cap space, they can do so for a third-round pick coming back. The idea that they would give up their first-round draft pick to do that is just nonsensical.

This trade has been made on here for atleast 1.5 months now -- CHI was another team making it. And youre moving back, not paying just a 1st to move him

The fact that a trade has been idiotic for six weeks unbeknownst to me doesn't make it any less idiotic. As I said in my first comment, if the Islanders want to trade Anders Lee to create $7 million in cap space, they can do so for a third-round pick coming back. The idea that they would give up their first-round draft pick to do that is just nonsensical. You have no answer to that, so you just ignore it. And the fact that the Isles would be trading back doesn't mean, as you try to imply, that NY wouldn't be giving up their first-rounder.

This is the worst trade for the Islanders I have seen on CapFriendly this month. Absolutely abominable, and unprovoked.

I'd rather keep Smith than give him away for virutally nothing and still have to retain.
