to mean as a nyr fan if carolina trade neccas they would need to be part of a bigger package for an absolute stud in return, a real difference maker.

LD is probably the last thing Carolina needs, they just keep Necas.

Carolina don't need a D man. They need a game breaker. You can't offer that, you're not getting Necas

The Canes would love to add Matheson, but when it comes down to it, on the Canes, he would be nothing more than the 3LD for the Canes. As it stands right now, Slavin and Orlov are both ahead of him on the depth charts, and with Nikishin coming over, Nikishin would be ahead of Matheson as well. LHD is the strongest position for the Canes. The likelihood the Canes move Necas for anything outside of a 1) top 6 2-way C, 2) a stud RHD, or 3) a W upgrade on Necas is low. A package of futures is of little interest when the Canes already have a stacked pipeline. Matheson, a cap dump, and meh picks and prospects is not going to get Necas.
