Why do so many Toronto guys try to shoehorn Marner and his $10.9 million cap hit into cap-stressed rosters like Minnesota ($14.75 million dead cap next season) or Los Angeles ($20.9 million to re-sign Quinton Byfield and fill both goalie positions and eight other roster slots)? The whole reason why you're in a position to sign Matt Roy is because we can't afford him, so how could we fit Mitch Marner into the roster?!?!? We can't afford Marner at his current cap hit this season even with Kevin Fiala going the other way or at his new figure if extended, and we can't afford to include one of our only two RDs with NHL experience in the deal, either. Please go play pretend-Marner-is-going-somewhere with teams like Utah and Chicago and Nashville and Columbus.
