Description

Verbeek's previous two offseasons followed a basic blueprint. Two veterans in the $4-$6.5 AAV range that have playoff experience, come from winning orgs, and can step into the building as instant leaders. He's also acquired cheap rental blueliners for some stability on defense.

As fun as it would be for the Ducks to go big-game hunting for someone like Reinhart, I'd expect Verbeek to follow a similar path in this third offseason. And since he's talked about acquiring a right-handed shot for his top 6 and a RHD, it's easier to guess some players he's interested in.

Note: Just made some guesses on the RFAs and draft picks. The Merrill trade is because MIN has some upcoming cap issues, he can play both right or left side, and Verbeek has made two trades with the Wild before.

I expect Verbeek to sign a few UFA's.

He believes in surrounding his young guys with solid vets and the Ducks certainly have the cap space.

Yea but I wouldn’t choose those two myself, Taffoli fore than DeMelo but still

I’d rather try and trade for a Josh Manson or a Jacob Trouba to fill that RD need

I'd stay away from Toffoli but Demelo is ok.

I don't know who Verbeek will sign or trade for but I do expect him to be active.

Theodore could be available.

Depending on what Vegas does.

I like everything I see here and wouldn't mind seeing it come true. I think that Toffoli and DeMelo fit the team best among the "available" UFAs, especially since I have a sneaking suspicion that Reinhart may turn out to be Huberdeau 2.0.

I’m not so much on the Reinhart will turn into Huberdeau, but I’m on the Reinhart will regress back down to around the 70ish point region

I don’t want us allocating all that money in anyone until we sign basically our whole entire core in 2 years — why I’d give Stamkos a blank check for him to fill in for 2 years

There was chatter about suspending him for intent to injured even though he missed.

Either way, Trouba plays jump rope with the edge, just because he hasn't ragdoll slammed Artemis Panarin yet doesn't make him any less Tom Wilson.
