Guys Id consider drafting at 7

1.
OTT
    Zayne Parekh.

This is my top choice. Sanderson-Parekh on the top pair would set us up for a long time . We fix our RD issue longterm
    ANA
    1. 2024 1st round pick (OTT)
    2.
    OTT
      Tij Iginla

This pick would age so well. One of the youngest players in the draft, plays like Seth Jarvis with more size and grit, this kid has it all. And he’s gonna keep progressing at an insane amount. Sens need to replace Giroux longterm
      ANA
      3.
      OTT
        Sam Dickinson.

Also a late birthday, playing really well with London. Has a safe floor and size and could give the Sens 2 similar solid defensive lines . Could pair him with someone like Mews or Badinka selected with the Boston pick

As long as your team sticks to the draft board and doesn’t draft Boucher at 9, you’ll be fine.

Boucher was at 10. There was a tier or 9 guys at the draft and then a huge drop off. We fell just out of it and decided to go for an identity player that didn’t pan out

Oh well at 10 that’s not so bad then. I’m sure all the picks below him were rated much lower in potential and are not highly touted prospects.

It’s not that they weren’t it’s that they weren’t projected top line guys anymore

yep people pile on that pick like there isn't only a handful of players past pick 9 who have turned out good going into D+4

All the high ceiling players were gone, it was 2nd line projected player available. They took one they thought could develop into Tom Wilson lite and it didn’t pan out

It was very possible Ottawa could have walked away in the 2021 draft with Wyatt Johnston, Josh Doan, Matthew Knies and Scott Morrow and instead walked away with Tyler Boucher, Zack Ostapchuk, Ben Roger and Derek Stepan...

Not a very good draft for OTT

Some Ottawa fans will have you believe that the Boucher pick was justified given the other players available, but even during the live broadcast of the draft, this pick shocked the panelists. Couldn’t find many reports out there that had Boucher listed before the late-2nd at his best. Same can be said for those other names… sad really.

It was a Covid draft , half of the guys barely played. Boucher even in limited time was point per game in USHL that’s not bad at all. He just never panned out. He even looked decent for Team USA but his development went backwards

It should have been on Cossa or Wallstedt tbh... Ottawa was and still is in desperate need of a quality goalie...

Other names that Ottawa could have that had high projections include Cole Sillinger, Brendan Othmann or Matthews Coranato

Totally agree. They have that monster goalie Sogaard but when you have top-end talent available, take it. And those other guys you mentioned who had higher projections have already turned pro and done well for the most part.
