Pettersson is a superstar and marner isn’t. There is no superstar swap going on here.

Canucks pass easily. The only way the Leafs can get Pettersson is if it’s Matthews for Pettersson+ (which obviously won’t happen)

Marner = Selke finalist, while producing at a bigger rate than Petterson. Both seem to struggle come playoff time, I don't think it's crazy to say they are both on the same level...

How is Pettersson better? Marner produces more offensively, he was a selke finalist last year... They both struggle in the playoffs, a change of scenery wouldn't be the worst thing ever

I mean I think it’s fair one for one. Both play playoff hockey with the lights shut off. Both regular season merchants. Although I’d give Marner the slight advantage since he is an elite at the PK.

Pettersson was above a PPG in the playoffs in the bubble. He’s struggling this year because he’s playing injured and has been playing with Mikheyev, Lafferty, Karlsson, and a cold Hoglander

Pettersson put up 100 points and Selke level defense playing with Kuzmenko and Mikheyev. Marner puts up his points while playing with Matthews or Tavares at 5v5. They are pretty close in terms of skill, but I’m taking the center who is already signed long term and has produced with worse linemates

marner was also not playing at a 100%. im not giving him any benefit of the doubt as its not the first time he hasnt showed up in the playoffs but its true he wasnt at 100%

pettersson should be able to elevate his linemates though

Pettersson has created chances for his linemates but guys like Mikheyev and Lafferty have no scoring touch and are typically unable to create chances for him
