<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>Alright then build a package around this
-MTL's 5th OA
-Mailloux OR Barron OR Captain Konyshkin (22 year old KHL Mobile Dman averaging 22-23mins a night)
Ill give you a way better quality of pick but im not also giving up the 5th OA last year for Tkachuck in a package.
I'd build one around lets say Beck , 5th OA and Barron or Konyskin with maybe another piece involved for Tkachuk
I might give up Mailloux or Matheson if Pressed but that'd be it and we'd want the 25th OA OR a swap of 2nd round picks this year and a 3rd in 2026
I wouldnt give up Reinbacher and a 5th OA package for Tkachuk though
Not unless they pony up the 25th or 39th OA this year in the deal
But giving up 2 top 5 picks after suffering for 2 years just to get they guy we shoulda drafted originally.
Its a tough sell unless something of value comes with him in a 25th OA and an a swap of 2nd rounders for Ottawa's 39th
Good as Tkachuk is and he is, but 5th OA no matter who it is sets OTT up then they have their at 7th coupled with Reinbacher last years 5th OA and a Dman of your choice all added to your depth chart after this years draft. You could end up with Lindstrom and Iginla or Demidov and Iginla as Utah has 0 D signed and will have a shot as a few good ones as Leshunov,Silayev,Dickinson,Buium and Parehk can all go top 5.
This means it would have to be a trade at the draft after the first two players are selected
If a Dman goes 2nd OA then those picks are almost guarantee to see quality forward
If ANA choose Lindstrom like i think then it all comes down to the Wildcard with a new GM in CBJ
It'd be an exciting deal to try to pull off and the first time i think the habs would cheer about losing their 5th OA pick at the draft just before the pick.</div></div>
That’s not enough from any team let alone a division rival.
It would take a very good young piece + 5th overall. And if it’s Montreal it’ll cost more

What it could look like the following year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>I think I’d rather opt for the 2025 pick for Ullmark and use 10th overall to get either a top LD like Dickinson or a C like Catton.
Overall I like what you’ve done. I expect Marino to be moved next year.
His value really depends on what kind of season he has. If he plays like he did in 22-23 when he was legitimately a stud, it’ll be through the roof compared to the godawful UFA class, if he has another mediocre 2RD year, it’ll be quite a bit less.
Holtz is probably in that 3RW/2LW spot as well I’d say</div></div>
Honestly I know this is gonna sound crazy but I think you guys should trade back. You pretty much have like a whole top pair and a nice top 6.
I don’t think Dickinson will be there. So why not just trade back and like get another late 1st or early 2nd and take Sohlberg + Hemming/Parascak

Id do Chychrun , Forsberg retained and a 4th that turns into a 3rd if they make the playoffs

There isn’t . Just saying it would take a big young piece to get Brady. It would need to be someone with very very high likelihood of being a top liner or top pair RD we can build around

It is . Brady is under contract. You don’t trade a young player you’re building around without getting another player to build around .

It’s more likely ottawa goes for a Johansen for Jones swap for a much younger piece at RD like Nemec

Even if he does , St Louis doesn’t have the assets. Dvorsky and Snuggerud just aren’t good enough of a prospect for either to be centerpiece of a Brady trade. Need someone with guaranteed top line / top pair potential for the next 10 years

The worst thing is extending Buch from ages 30 to 37 . While Brady enters his prime

Brady Tkachuk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BluesReport18</b></div><div>The biggest trade piece is Hofer. You're getting yourself a true number 1 franchise goalie which is really all Ottawa needs. Buch would replace the production of Tkachuk and provide veteran leadership. By the time Buch is getting older hopefully Ottawa would have younger prospects that could come in and push him down the lineup. That's my thought process behind it but still your point is fair I was more just throwing this out here.</div></div>
No one is valuing goalies that much . I wouldn’t trade Brady for any goalie in the league

This would be horrible for ottawa. We aren’t interested in trading our 24 year old stud for a guy that we will get for his later years from ages 30 to 37.
Also that’s not enough for Brady or anywhere close to it
