If Seattle Wanted to Move Up From 8OA to 5OA

Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2024
Published: May 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I expect the Habs to trade Dvorak and Armia during the season, if they both stay healthy and are somewhat productive.

I hope the Canadiens, extend Slafkovsky and Guhle to long-term deals, while resigning Evans and Savard. (Evans is great for PK and Savard is great for leadership and blocking shots.)

Decent value for NYR but Garand looks to be their backup when Quick is done. Don't see where Farrell makes our lineup next season as well.

I like Farrell, I really do. But NYR has enough depth on the way. And in a few years they will have Perrault. Garand is probably going to be backup goalie in two years.

Was thinking Farrell could replace Kakko's spot the on third line RW in the future. (Not sure where you would slot Kakko in the lineup down the line.)
With Boyko and Ollas already signed for next year in the minors, I was thinking the NYR have an overcrowded Goalie room, with Domingue also signed for another year in NHL. 3 goalies in NHL and 3 in the minors, seems like a lot.

Well how I view it we don't really need to move on from Kakko unless he makes it clear he doesn't want to be apart of the team long-term. And Garand I see as a stronger option than Ollas.

Is there a way to sweeten the deal? Farrell + a late round pick, or not worth it from your perspective?

Who would Seattle be trying to move up to get? They are pretty much guaranteed a top end defenseman at #8

Hm don't want to be d*ck or anything. But don't see a scenario where it makes sense from both sides. But don't MTL has promising goalie prospects in the system. There is a lot of ways to look at it. Like you point out Garand isn't untouchable for NYR there is options there. But at the same time I don't see the need to move him really either. But if you think that is fair I will not complain. Is this acceptable answer? smile

Big Farrell guy, think he might become a good middle 6 guy but not sure if we'd move on Garand without giving him a look in.

I know we have organisational depth in goal Boyko and Lindbom are the ones that are going, Garand and Ollas are likely staying with Domingue as the veteran.

But it's not like he's unmoveable.

I don't get the whole Domingue thing all he does is sign minimum deals come in in emergencies play well, give his team a chance to win every night and get sent back down? It's mind-boggling to me he can't get a steady back up job . IMO he was the best backup TB has had since Vasilevskiy backed up Bishop. I truly don't get it. Louis Domingue a lot like Luke Schenn is a guy everyone loves as a person.

Can't see Seattle trading prospects for RFA rights just to move up 3 spots in the draft.

If Calgary is serious about drafting Iginla I could see them making a move with Montreal. I can also see Seattle leveraging the 8 to get a little more draft capital.
