Horrible.

Wouldn’t trade either of these players for either of those pieces

If Ottawa’s players were as good as Ottawa fans think, wouldn’t their team be better? Every year I keep on hearing how Ottawa is next and every year they seem to fall flat for whatever reason. Could it be that their young core is simply not good enough to win?

I like Shane Pinto. He’s a perfectly serviceable 2nd line center that every team should covet. He is also a kid that showed tremendously bad judgment. Ottawa should want to keep him. He’s in the upper half of centers in the league. Just like Ottawa should want to keep Brady. There are other players whose value is questionable. I’m curious how Bratherson would perform in a high forechecking system that requires defensive soundness.

Ottawa would absolutely have a use for the three players mentioned in the trade. Ullmark is a damn good goalie, Lysell is an impressive prospect with significant upside / downside and Geekie has a great contract to production. I get why you wouldn’t want to do this trade, but it’s closer to value than Ottawa fans may want to acknowledge. That’s why trades are rare.

I love Ridly Greig. Wouldn’t trade an established NHL top 6 for him. I think that’s the logic behind not wanting to do this deal
