It seems like a certainty Lou will trade the first for an established young forward to help the offense. I have a gut feeling it could be one of CBJ's Russian 3 (Chinakov, Marchenko, Voronkov).

CBJ is crowded on the forward end: Gaudreau, Jenner, Laine, Texier, Fantilli, Marchenko, Sillinger, Nylander, and Chinakov all averaged over 15 minutes a year last season, with Voronkov and Johnson at around 13 minutes. That's 11 (ELEVEN) top 9 caliber forwards, with the possibility of more with rookies/AHL guys pushing for spots (Brindley/TFW/Malatesta/Dumais), and also the low chance CBJ takes a forward at 4

Similar to the Romanov trade, crowded position, MTL capitalizes on his value and uses the pick to trade for a piece they really like in Dach.

I don't expect CBJ fans to accept, and I'm sure this isn't the move NYI fans are hoping for, but this really seems like a Lou type move for me, getting a young piece he believes in, while leaving cap space for the big Romanov/Dobson extensions next year.

Per Arthur Staple of the Athletic's most recent article, 2 teams reached out to Lou on Pageau at the deadline. With the emergence of MacLean as a C, Pageau could be moved with the Isles needing cap space.

UFA Center Market isn't the best this year, not many right-handed centermen with Pageau's defensive pedigree, I peg his value at a mid round pick due to his cap hit.

Nothing trade, just want cheap, young, physical 4th line competition to push Fasching.
