I don't see LAK being this desperate to move on from Dubois after 1yr, maybe in 2yrs but not now

And I can’t see Kent Hughes bringing an underperforming player who makes more than his captain. They have a salary structure and Suzuki should be the highest paid player (could change via free agency in 2025 tho)

Just because Caufield took a deal that had a little less than Suzuki doesn't mean the Habs have this iron clad salary structure in place.
If MTL had got Dubois from Winnipeg at the price they wanted he'd have the same contract if not more because of MTL(Quebec) taxes

Didn't PLD say he only wants to play for Montreal since he is from the area?

Habs decline easily.

Josh has a prett inoffensive buyout so they wpuld get out from under PLD and get a 2nd rpunder.

I think they do. Unless they go fishing for a true game changer during the 2025 Free agency

It's only cap neutral for one year, and then for two seasons, it helps Kings, and then three seasons Habs have PLD.
It's a poor trade for the Habs.
What might make it better for the Habs, is they make the trade and then buyout PLD in June. The 14 year of dead cap isn't that cap prohibitive.

14 year buyout is crazy - we are reaching Dipietro levels lol
