I think #10 is certainly in play…in some combination with Calgary…but I don’t think Mangiapane would be it. It may be as simple as Marky and Vancouvers pick for NJD 1st.

That said, I would honestly be very surprised if Fitzy dealt with Conroy anytime soon. He was still pissed at end of season and said Conroy was trying to extort him at deadline.

Yeah I’d look anywhere for tending (Gustavsson) first but a two year bet on a goalie this good. I dunno. It’s the kind of deal GMs do make.

Move the retention from Mangiapane to Markstrom…replace Hanley, 4th and Mangiapane with the best single piece they can muster.

Fiztgerald probably goes after Ulmark for Mercer + Holtz + 2025 1st now just to spite Calgary, then pays more than 6 mil per to extend Ulmark for 7 or 8 years before he even plays a single game in NJ.

We don’t have a lot of single pieces besides picks but maybe a 26 second or something where the Flames get some time value of draft capital and NJ gets an asset easy to flip at future trade deadlines.

Fitzy has every right to be upset. But NJD will worry about their own.

Aren’t CGY fans upset at Conroy? He could have had a top young prospect in the fold. Asked Markstrom to waive, even to announce the trade to locker room. But he tried to press for more and backfired. Within days, Markstrom was calling him out publicly. Now, even the most friendly beat reporters are calling for “splitsville”…and Conroy has zero leverage to make any deals. He will be lucky to get 50 cents on the dollar. Where is outrage, CGY fans?

I think GMs in good working terms could get creative and figure something out. But I am afraid Fitzy and Conroy are not likely to be working with each other anytime soon.

The outrage is there. Now bordering apathy. But it’s with ownership. The rumour feels very legit that ownership vetoed the trade blaming the salary retention as requiring more return.
