Hronek and total revamp

Created by: TMLBRIAN

Description
Tavares would need to waive. It's so hard to predict if he will waive or not or if he would waive for a team like Chicago. I can see Davidson making his case strong enough for Tavares to waive. But who knows.

I focused on adding more offense from out D, while still trying to keep some of the toughness we have.

I really liked our forward group. Just replaced Tavares with a cheaper C.

Thoughts?

Feels like an overpay for Hronek, who seems like he benefitted a lot from his pairings this year. How much does he move the needle for TOR?

Personally I'd love CHI to take Tavares, I proposed acquiring him as a short-term complement to Bedard last summer too. Would he waive? No clue. But if he will, "Tavares to CHI for ____" seems to make too much sense not to happen.

I agree - I think this trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Now it would be up to Davidson to convince Tavares that it would make sense for him and his family also. I would trade for him, slap the C on him and extend him for 6m x 3 years. He would be a perfect C stop gap and mentor for Bedard.

Hronek has benefited from being paired with Hughes and has helped Hughes. Problem Vancouver has is too many Free agents and who would be better for the long term window of the team. I like Hronek but I think if Van wants to win a Cup trading him and using his money to retain Zadorov and bringing a vet (Ideally Tanev) who can be more defensive then Hronek and be a mentor to Willander would be better for the Canucks long term then giving Hronek 7m+.

I'd only be interested in acquiring Tavares if it led to the hawks retaining half and flipping him at the deadline.

    That could work also.

No reason you can't do all of that though.

A bit ambitious. I think the aim would be to have him waive at the deadline for a contender. But I guess if the fit is good, Davidson could pull an audible and give him a few years extension. I would think that he finishes his contract and then signs a nice discount deal next summer to retire with TOR.
