Jones's contract is comparable to Morgan Rielly's, except $33m instead of $30m (an additional $500k/year).

Karlsson's contract is essentially a "prove it" deal that has us retaining RFA rights at the end (assuming he doesn't leave in an expansion draft) but does give him arbitration rights.

Puljujarvi's contract would likely include lots of bonuses, but CF doesn't offer any way to model those other than "just put it in the cap hit". So I just put in the base salary and am presuming we'd need at least $2m of cap space to be "safe".

The Desharnais-Hartnell trade is done because we have grinding goal scorers and need playmakers. Would experiment between C and W with him and Jenner. Some draft pick adjustment might well be necessary depending on what Montreal thinks of Hartnell.

Clarkson on LTIR is partly because he's been near-constantly injured ever since he came here (Nathan Horton has more games as a Blue Jacket than David Clarkson. No, really!), but mostly Because I Could Do It. It's not actually practical for the duration of the season - he keeps coming back for a handful of games here and there. :(

Tyutin is bought out largely because the Clarkson LTIR thing is probably going to be temporary, and getting it working midseason will be troublesome (it required calling up seven players).

Once Clarkson inevitably comes back Boll would be buried.
