Description
This entire thought process is based around two things: 1) that Jumbo would retire if we got him a Cup and 2) that I lose sleep over the guilty knowledge that Chris Tierney went from being a decent player with a great organization to being stuck in the tire fire that is Ottawa. Someone save him so I can sleep soundly again! He did nothing to deserve this!

Karlsson wont sign for less then Drew Doughty 8 x 11, Talk is Karlsson wants either 8 x 12 or 8 x 13 and believe me there's GM's out there that would gladly give him that much.

Is that all Tierney is really worth?
Serious question, his last season in SJ he put up pretty decent numbers, was that just a byproduct of good wingers or was he that good? Was he centering a 3rd line or where did he mostly play?
Am wondering if he's any good or if his numbers in SJ and now in Ottawa are being inflated by circumstance and not his ability.

The thing is, he can't get 8 years anywhere else - he can only sign for 7 years with anyone but the Sharks. 8 years at 10.5 is 84 million, 7 years at 11 is 77 million, and 7 years at 12 is....84 million.

He'd have to convince some GM to give him over 12 million dollars to make more than 10.5 on the Sharks would get him and if some other GM wants to give a 7 year contract at McDavid money to a 29 year old defenseman with a recent history of injury then I guess that's their prerogative. I know he's good - the entire team plays better when he's on the ice - but I don't think that's a gamble that I would personally take.

Honestly, no, I think he's worth more than that and the NHL trade machine backs that up - but the Sens have a history of making terrible trades lately and frankly, I couldn't handle the thought of sending more than one player off to save him from that hellhole. (According to the NHL trade machine it would take Manny and a first or Manny and 3 seconds to make the Sens the winners in that trade)

The fact that he's been able to pull out 41 points in 65 games with the ****ing SENS as opposed to 40 points in 82 games on a much better line with the Sharks seems like a decent indicator that he's a solid player. It's gotta be harder to pull off assists when your teammates don't have skill, yeah? (AKA idk, his numbers might be inflated but I don't think by much if at all)

Yeah I think it's nuts to pay him that kind of money, I know he's really good but you could pay 2 or even 3 top 4 dman the equivalent of what he's gonna make. That's crazy especially considering he's 29 years old.
