Description
Possible Jet's Signings in the 2019 Off-season.

This scenario (Plan: A) is if Trouba re-sings with the Jets, and causes Myers to hit Free Agency while moving 1 contract out (most likely Kulikov: heading back to his draft roots in Florida) to help stay within the cap.

I like it. Except for the Laine extension. If you have 3.4mill in cap space and factoring in bonuses, just give the guy a 1-1.5mill raise and buy more than one UFA year. Or give Connor a 3mill raise and give him a scaled up version of Nylander's extension.

I figure the Jets organization would be quite reluctant to hit so close to the Cap in the 2019/20 season, and it really depends on how well the Jets finish this 2018/19 regular season and *knocks on wood* their playoff performance in 2019. I feel like this is the optimal plan for the Jets moving forward, and the $3 million cap space could be leverage for the 2020 Trade Deadline (pending their standings at that time) to help any team needs.

The major losses are Tyler Myers hitting free agency and probably signing on as a 2nd D pair or top pair with big minutes and similar AAV with the Jets ($5.5-6.5 million), and Kulikov has been a 7th D (healthy scratch) for most of the 2018/19 season, so getting him more ice time on another team that needs his services would be ideal.

Similar to how Stastny walked in free agency in 2018, I see the exact same situation with Hayes in 2019. Not because the Jets couldn't settle an offer, but because another team is willing to pay a premium that Hayes will gladly accept.

Also, I've chosen Kyle Connor to work out a bridge deal as an RFA re-signing for 2019-22, where those key years can help determine his status and pedigree to further successful seasons. Patrick Laine ends up with the 2nd highest salary of the team, but not for longer than 5 years (similar to how Matthews will become UFA after his new deal with Toronto) and Trouba takes on the 3rd highest paid cap hit from his final RFA year, satisfying his role as #1 right-handed D on the team, and locking him in for long term. That value on Trouba could also be another team sending him an Offer Sheet and the Jets matching it to keep him in their roster from his RFA status.

You've really underpaid Connor. Screams of offer sheet. Hard to believe Trouba who has turned down long term offers before to get UFA as soon as possible suddenly signs long term with the Jets.

I could easily add $3million AAV to the same term for Kyle Connor from this "Plan A", but I'm thinking of what a bridge deal could look like and adds overall team value as well. I have a strong feeling that Trouba will likely get an Offer Sheet July 1st, 2019. From that point, its up to the Jets if they want the compensation picks or simply match the offer. Most likely, they'll match the offer and place the terms on years to suit.

Kyle Connor isn't signing any bridge deal or long term deal for a dollar less then $6 million AAV.
That Trouba contract is just gross, he's so not worth $8 million per year, just trade the guy already!
