Description
If Teravainen is going to be successful at center, he needs a skilled winger next to him. Best he has looked with us was when he played with Sharpie in the 2015 playoffs.

Go get Yakupov, a highly skilled scorer who never met expectations in EDM, give him a 1 year trial until RFA hits.

Regardless, this will allow them to be more flexible (and knowledgeable) next summer when Teuvo, Panarin, Pokka also hit their RFA.

Retain most of the cheaper options (Panik, Mashinter) and let Ladd/Shaw walk. Hartman can replace Shaw skill set, to a certain extent.

Give Motte the first chance to earn an every day spot as a 3rd line scorer and Pokka first shot in the 3rd D-pairing.

I like everything other than the Bickell buyout. I'd happily lose assets to save that 1.5M off the cap in 2017-18.

Also, do we really want to give assets for Yak when it's more or less impossible for us to re-sign him?

I agree with Orionus about the Bickell buyout. I also agree with pairing Teavo with a skilled winger. How about Hossa? I like the idea of acquiring Yakupov, but in reality the Hawks would probably spend that cap space to keep Shaw, a player they know, vs a gamble on Yakupov.

Agree with the others, but add: I doubt Yak would be obtainable for that deal, the Hawks would never let Shaw 'walk' (he would be traded), and Rundblad/Ross are definitely not going to return a 2nd (proven not good and unproven bottom 6 guy at best).

I agree, Bickell buyout is highly inconvenient but if he hasn't been traded at this point, I don't see it happening. No body will take that contract, even if a prospect is thrown in to sweeten the deal. Good point about Shaw, forgot that he will get the Brandon Saad treatment if we don't sign him. I like Yak on a trial basis so we can see what the situation is after the season, rather than lock up Shaw instead and have very little money to bring back Panarin, Teuvo, Pokka. Tough to give up Vinnie in the Yak deal but they're going to need a proven top AHL forward to swing that deal... It's all just food for thought
