Description
Alright, here is my new thought.

Brown for TVR - Carolina needs some scoring help and have a lot of good D. Cant afford one of the big ones wihtout giving up Nylander, so TVR can help stabilize... Brown can be useful, has scored 20 before, needs the opportunity above the 4th line and not with Marleau.

Sandin looks ready for the jump and Rosens been destroying it, so for 1 year we need super cheap D to be below the cap. Not ideal, no but salvagable and maybe later on a deadline aquisition or Liljegren/Duszak can help contribute

Marleau will not "retire" or anything and trading his cap hit away wont happen with his NMC barring some voodoo. Lupul Island is a possibility but I give that 1%. Need to keep him, reduce his minutes and play against lower competition.

Everything points to Edmonton and Puljujärvi's relationship being terrible and hopefully not repairable. Should he be better than Johnsson, Absolutely, is he right now, No. Edmonton gets a quick fast winger who plays gritty and was with Auston Matthews, and Leafs get a prospect Edmonton ruined to salvage in the AHL for 1-2 years. Big thing here is leafs save Johnssons Cap hit on his new deal. It also fits the Theme of Edmonton Losing a trade One for One. Is it a bit lop sided, yes, but its edmonton so it fits. If this senario doesnt work for you, trade Johnsson for a B+/A- prospect not yet proven and swap some picks back n forth and call it a day.

And then Ziatsev, only way to fit under the cap is to get him the hell out of here. Good Hockey men will like him, given the opportunity he isnt uneless in the offensive zone, D is anothe story. Ottawa needs to hit the cap floor desperately after giving away Stone, Duchene and Dzingle. Leafs get cap relief, a B- prospect and a late late pick.

Brown has had plenty of scoring opportunities this year. Played 1st line, 2nd line, 3rd line, 4th line. But don't tell Carolina. I like it. lol

Yeah. This team needs two dmen next, assuming we lose Gardiner. One if we don't lose him.

Oh you are correct we defiantely need some D men. I think though Dubas is going to force Babs to play fast speedy D for a year and try to break him into not wanting dudes like Hainsey taking top minutes. I will admit this D is less than ideal, but its 1 year of meh D, then we get cap relief with Marleaus 6.25 and cap increase. THen we can shore up the blueline. My goal is to keep the big 4, Kadris contract(which is so good) and the prospects in place.

Id take that over blowing things up... ***(That being said if there was a Kap or Nylander for Parayko trade .. no idea what it looks like, but add picks and prospects moving back n forth.. not saying id like it, but I would be intrigued to see if it made sense)

I would think Marner takes a lot more than that for that kind of term.
