Description
Does an offer sheet of one of the top players (Point, Mikko, Marner, Laine) make any sense for the Bruins? The lightning and leafs would have the most problems matching any sheets as they are both projected for 6 million in cap space for the coming year. Mikko would be my first choice, but the Avs have an abundance of space and would match anything the Bruins could offer.

Backes is moved for cap space to a team that needs help reaching cap floor after July 1st (not necessarily the Yotes).

Krug is moved during offseason to the Preds who have an abysmal power play for a middle 6 winger who can greatly improve the scoring there. Nordstrom goes to provide a depth skater in return. I'm not sure of Nashville's willingness to depart with Jarnkrok, but I think Krug gives them a much better team than Jarnkrok does.

Appreciate any feedback. I don't think this will happen, but thought it was an interesting plan to get another top-6 scorer who is young and proven in the league.

Because Boston is OVERLOAD with cap space and Marner would definitely sign with rival right??

I get what you're saying with the Preds Powerplay, but I can't see why they would want a defenseman. They're always looking for forwards, their top 4 is nasty. Krug is probably their number 5 dman.

Yeah of all the teams in the league, you'd have to think the Bruins would be near the bottom of Marners list considering he plays for the leafs and has loved the leafs his whole life. Just assuming he hates Boston.

Also you have Marner signed at 8 mil and Chara at 1.... Never happening.

With a few moves the B's have more than enough room, and the leafs could make moves to fit him as well that just doesn't fit my narrative here. And by the end of negotiations, Marner could want to spite the leafs. He could also reject any offer sheet that comes his way and take a team friendly deal with the Leafs. I'm just doing a mock where he doesn't want to stay with the Leafs, and the Bruins manage to give him the best offer sheet.

At some point do you think they look at the glaring need of a offensive defenseman to quarterback the powerplay take preference over another forward? If he's their 3rd pairing defensemen, but leads the 1st PP unit, I think that might be more helpful than a middle 6 forward, but you are right when you say Nashville might look at it as unnecessary and keeping looking to upgrade the front.

Are you saying you see Marner getting far more than 8? I agree he's worth more, but I don't know that the Leafs will go 10 or higher with him. And Chara's 1 mil would be incentive based per games played for an extra chunk of cash.
