Description
Caps 2019 off-season, attempt 2

Taking some suggestions from the first attempt and trying them here.

Changes from attempt 1:

Traded Niskanen for picks
Traded Bura for picks
Signed Conno
Signed Gerisch
Signed Stephenson

The 4th line has a lot of competition with these moves. Let Dowd, Gersich, Barber, Boyd and Stephenson fight it out for the 4th line and see who comes out on top. Keep the losers for depth or trade/release/send them down later on.

This also leaves a bit for cap space maneuvering, although not a lot, or some additional money could be thrown at Hagelin and/or Conno to keep them.

The Lightning have 5 UFA defenseman come the 2019 off-season, including 3 of them being RD. They could use another solid veteran in their lineup that's under contract for a couple more seasons. They don't seem to have anyone obviously ready to step in either from the minors.

I wouldnt trade bura. He’s been one of our top 5 forwards the last 2months. Also trading him when his value is at its lowest seems like a terrible idea.

Niskanen needs to go. I 100% agree.

I would sign priskie and see if he fits as a 3rd pairing rhd.

This isn't his lowest value. His value come the off season could be as high as it's been in ages, especially if he does well in the playoffs. I'm not selling him cheap.

It's probably possible to keep him, as long as Niskanen's contract is off the books, but that's in return for much reduced depth. Probably can't sign Barber/Gersich and Stephenson then.

$ need to go out for cap reasons. Burakovsky is tops on that list.
