Description
This is a trade under the assumption that the Avs get the first overall pick, via OTT, and the Kings get the 2nd overall pick. It was made known at a season ticket holder event that the Kings REALLY covet Jack Hughes (I mean who wouldn't) but in a sense that it means they would move up in the draft even if they were slotted for Kakko. At another recent event, Luc told fans that the Kings are trying to get their average age down to 25, and will need to make some drastic changes to do so. Avs fans, tell me what you think. I don't know how highly Kaut is valued by the Avs organization, but he seems like a player the Kings would be interested in: A middle-lower 6 player with a bit of scoring and defensively responsible. I'm also assuming the Avs would send someone with cap hit back, along the lines of an Ian Cole, to make the cap for you guys work so you can still sign Rantanen and other UFAs/FAs .

In the end, the Avs come away with Quick, Toffoli, and Kakko, and the 33rd overall pick. The Kings come away with Kaut, Cole, and Hughes

passssssss. Dont like giving up Kaut even if you are still getting Kakko.

Dont want anything to do with Quick. Its an interesting idea but I dont think its enough for the Avs. To me I see it as Hughes/Kaut could be better than a Kakko/Taffoli combo,

Why wouldn't you want anything to do with Quick? He's had a rough year, for sure, but he's on an absolutely terrible team. And you only need to go back to 2018 playoffs against Vegas to see he still has the "it" factor. It would be a huge upgrade in goaltending for you guys, for less cap hit, and controlled for longer. It wouldn't be Kakko/Toffoli combo, it would also be whoever was selected at 33rd overall. On top of the fact that Toffoli is already proven top-6 talent on a Stanley Cup winning team. He would automatically give you guys depth past that beastly first line of yours.

What would be a realistic counter-offer?

Hes a 33 year old goalie and now showing decline...why would you want to marry yourself to that for 4 more years, its pretty clear to see why.
