Description
MTL's interest in Beaudin is well known. Last summer he was a defensive Dman, but now he's started scoring too. Beaudin was drafted #27OA, but when you're developing even better than your draft slot...your trade value goes up. The 4th is intended just to be the feather than breaks the trade. He's a LHD on an ELC that MTL needs. He can step in tomorrow.

Why does CHI do this trade...because they think they can sign Gus to a reasonable extension. If this isn't the case...then the trade doesn't happen and Gus gets dealt @ the TDL. BUT in order to protect the PP next year...I'd actually send Boqvist to Rockford. PLENTY of high draft picks go the AHL route these days. He could also step up and see if he can take a PP role next year if Gus does indeed get dealt @ the TDL.

Lol. A former 27th overall pick doesn't get you the 15th overall pick just a couple years later.

Like I said...he's developing really well. You can be the #1OA...Nail Yakupov and flame out. You can also be the 129th pick Jamie Benn and be GREAT! Draft pick means NOTHING after you've been drafted. He's dominating the Q right now and developing better than some of the players drafted a head of him. He fits EXACTLY what MTL needs and there's no guarantee Romanov is ready. Romanov is riding the bench for CSKA right now. Beaudin is on the top pair for a team leading the Q.

I know who the prospect is. I've seen him play multiple times. It still doesn't get you the 15th pick.. Montreal could easily get Philip Broberg at 15 and he's arguably already better than Beaudin and he's younger. Then they've just given up assets for no reason.

That's just false...about everything except age. NO assets were lost for...nothing... assets were traded for assets. Nothing lost at all. Actually, a 4th gained. Again, 1 player for 1 player. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY. Philip Broberg is a 6'3" 200lbs 18 year old. His own scouting reports say..."Lacks the puck-handling skills necessary to be proficient offensively at it, at this stage" MTL isn't drafting Phillip Broberg. He doesn't fit what they need.
