THIS ISN'T INTENDED TO BE A BLACKHAWKS POST...I just want to see what people think cap dumps will cost and post a few thoughts with a team (could be any team) to help guide more conversations.

I like to use history as the guide. There are clearly nuances to each trade, but we can take this information in the aggregate and form some general guidelines. (CAVEAT...I'm not including trades like Tanner Pearson for Erik Gudbranson...OR... Ryan Spooner for Sam Gagner because those are change of scenery trades) I'm talking PURE Cap Dumps.

Help me create a list! I'm positive I'm not going to get them all and want to truly see what's out there.

Brooks Orpik - $4M...1 year left - Grubauer...a starting Goalie for pick #47.

Dave Bolland from the Panthers to AZ. (3) years of $5.5M...LTIR - Cost the #11 OVERALL PICK for a 3rd and 4th.

Marian Hossa - 3 years of $5.275M LTIR - Cost (2) NHL players in Hinnostroza and Oesterle and a 3rd round pick while taking back a ~$3M cap dump in Kruger.

Bryan Bickell - 2 years of $4M - Cost the Hawks Teuvo Teräväinen for a 2nd and 3rd.

Patrick Sharp 2 years $6M - Cost Stephen John and taking back a camp dump in Trevor Daley...Hawks only dropped $2.5M in cap.

So far, the general theme to me is...expect to pay a 1st rounder OR A+ prospect and get some smaller somewhat decent pieces back. What do you think?
