Description
Won't happen but for fun.

PROS: EDM gets out of a bad contract and gets an elite goalie in return.
CONS: Issue would be they wouldn't do that without an extension to Holtby. But Holtby grew up 2 hours away from them so maybe.

PROS: NJD gets a 9th overall pick, which could get them a player like Caufield who can re-unite with Hughes, as they rebuild still (Hughes, Hischier, Caufield is an elite young core to build with). Niskanen has the Shero connection and can settle their top 4 RHD.
CONS: Losing Severson would probably be something NJD wouldn't want to do but they do have Smith coming so maybe they don't mind.

PROS: TOR gets their 1RHD finally and saves some money.
CONS: None really.

PROS: Caps get a young piece that will fit perfectly with Backstrom.
CONS: Issue is they are stuck with Koskinen who isn't good and on a bad contract. But seems worth it to get Nylander. Maybe they can make him look good then move him.

If TOR wanted Severson, why wouldn't they just trade with NJ instead of trading with another eastern contender and making them stronger as well?

So who's the elite goalie Edmonton is getting? Holtby has just marginally better stats than Koskinen and that's playing with a superior Washington team in front of him, Maybe it's the Caps that have to give up the first rounder.

I guess that's true. Though that doesn't get them Caufield who I'm sure they would love to have to play with Hughes.

Yeah thats true. I only thought about TOR and WASH and them helping each other and possibly facing each other in the conference finals
