I think this makes a lot off sense except for the Trouba deal. The Red Wings aren't competing next year either and I think they could wait one more year or at least pay less for his imminent exit out of Wpg. Could the Wings take on a shorter but maybe more expensive contract for Abdelkader? I'm a Bruins fan and wouldn't personally like it, but I think Detroit could benefit from maybe offering Abdelkader for Backes or something along those lines with any competing team really

I think even Stevie Y would have to put more on the table to get Trouba.

I seriously doubt he would with where the Wings are in their rebuild.

I dunno. That second-round pick is pretty appealing to a team that doesn't have a first-rounder. Add a winger prospect like Taro Hirose or Joseph Veleno and an RhD prospect like Filip Hronek or Gustav Lindstrom to replace Trouba and all of a sudden you may have the #1 RD you need for the next 5 years or more. That's not a pig in a poke.

The Trouba debate, it's crazy how people don't see the value/advantage in acquiring a desired player before they hit the free agency market to get a head start on negotiations and in all reality possibly saving a bit of $$ on the contract.
I understand all sides and arguments of this debate but it seems some just refuse to think it's even a possibility that Stevie Y would entertain the thought of trading for Trouba, just face it, it could happen!.. Lol
