Description
I’m generally against using picks and prospects to get out of the Lucic contract but this option interests me. Wennberg could realistically bounce back and be worth his cap hit, he also may not, in theory getting an early second round pick in a draft they have almost no picks, a strong prospect in Yamamoto, and protection from their risk in giving up Wennberg, that could very well make it worth it for them. I make the money equal so that they aren’t spending any more towards the cap.

If Wennberg doesn’t pan out, the Oilers bought 4mil in cap space with a prospect who while good, is not a sure thing by any means as Wennberg can be bought out much easier.

Any thoughts?

I'm not 100% opposed to it, but Lucic is so bad and that contract is even worse. Even though Lucic might have a bounce back year with torts. tears of joy

Yeah I guess it depends a bit on how this off-season goes for CBJ. If they lose all of Duchene, Panarin, and Bobrovsky it might be time for a mini rebuild which would make Yamamoto and a high second rounder more valuable to them.

It's original, I would consider it. I question if CBJ really can expect Yamamoto+2nd considering the fact that the situation is only going to get worse.

He is signed for another 4 years. Being arrogant towards Tortorella, especially when not performing well, is bound to have him cut from the line up more games then he already has been. His value will keep dropping. To me, seems like Lucic already hit rock bottom
