Description
1) I know the Dallas deal is unrealistic, but I really like Dobby and I did this to make myself feel better so bzzzzzzzt, whatever. (Okay, fine, I'd also accept getting a 3rd back for Dillon & signing Nilsson for 2.5 million out of free agency for 2 years while Korenar finishes developing & while hanging on to our prospects. I CAN BE FLEXIBLE IF I HAVE TO BE, I JUST REALLY LIKE DOBBY & WANT JONES TO HAVE A GOOD BACKUP PUSHING HIM TO PERFORM.)

2) A lot of the Armchair GM teams floating around have Karlsson leaving without trying to fill that void and instead focusing on building stronger forward lines. I feel like that's a mistake - you've got to have good defense if you want a cup & what the Sharks will have without Karlsson just won't cut it.

Look, I love Labanc. Any of my friends in real life will tell you that my feelings about Kevin Labanc are profound and often expressed very loudly. When we're at games and he scores at least three people all turn to me to yell "YA BOY!" but I would give him up if it meant building a stronger blue line and being able to build on it for a good long while to come.

3) If Labanc is going, we need more firepower up front. Panarin is unlikely to sign for less than 10.5 or 11 in my opinion, but I think Skinner could be swayed by a team that is balls to the wall in for a cup run and has an actual shot at it.

4) Pavelski takes a slight cut from what he probably deserves in order to stay in teal & agrees to a 2 year deal to handle the upcoming Seattle situation. (I also think it's likely that he doesn't come back at all given his injuries, but I want him to staaaaaay)

5) Timo signs a bridge deal and gets a good raise to go along with it. If he keeps developing like he has been he'll get a massive paycheck in four years that'll carry him into UFA territory.

Trouba wants the east coast not west coast, He wants to be near his family or fiancee. No way Trouba signs for only $7 million per. He's asking for anywhere from $7.5 to $8.5 million per. He wants to get paid like a #1 Dman.

Well, he can want whatever he wants, but the fact of the matter is that he's an RFA player and he functionally has no say over what team he plays for. He can want to play in the east but the Jets are under no obligation whatsoever to make that happen. Heck, they're under no obligation to trade him at all if they don't want to.

The salary issue is certainly a bit more mutable as he does have arbitration rights, but again, he's got limited control over that unless he wants to pull a Nylander and go play in Europe for a while. And frankly, if push came to actual shove, I could've gone with a different goalie and dug another half a million out of the couch cushions for his salary.
