As a Hawks fan. While I like Hall ALOT...I wouldn't put much effort into trying to get him until next season. What I mean by that is...Nicolas Beaudin and a contingent pick if Hall extends is the MAX I would give. It's not the most NJD can get by a long shot, but it's just doesn't make sense for the Hawks to go all in when they're still re-tooling. They DO have assets, but if CHI REALLY wants Hall that bad...overpay him next year.

I think if we Bowman and the Hawks front office learned one thing the last time around the salary cap wheel its that "over-paying" is not the way to go because ultimatley then you have to use your prospects to dump salary. I like your deal but I would also add Saad to it to alivate cap space now. Hall will ultimatley get a Tavares type contract and I think you still have room to sign DeBrincat and Strome if you sheed Saad now and you should be able to trade away Anisimov's contract easily after July 1 to a team looking to take on a cap hit but not have to pull his full salary because we have to pay his $2mil bonus on July 1.

Not disagreeing at all about the overpay. It's a difficult spot to be in. Overpay is all relative anyway. Bowman's normal signing might qualify as overpay anyway for his track record...Manning, Panik, Kruger, Seabrook, Bickell… I hear ya. It's just such a shame to overpay asset wise. They're not in the position to be trading away 1sts like they were between 2010 and 2015.
