ZAITSEV TRADE - WHAT DO LEAFS FANS THINK

As a Hawks fan, I don't like this at all. I also don't like the lines. Debrincat's not a 4th liner! Strome's a center. Gardiner is not defensively stout Dman. It's just way to much for Zaitsev. Why are we trading to get Hino back? Why is Kruger signed?

As a leafs fan we take that trade, rather fair for both sides. Just a heads up Gardiner cannot play with zaitsev they are beyond abysmal when on the ice together

One of the biggest reasons people are down on Zaitsev right now is him being forced to play with Gardiner. When he played a more equal possession/responsibility pairing with Muzzin in the playoffs he was much better. I think the Leafs would do that deal, only because there is no salary coming back. But they want to contend and I don't think they would be super happy to get just futures for Zaitsev (other teams might offer more).

You have to be joking, this trade is abysmal for the hawks. Leafs will probably have to pay to get rid of zaitsev or at least take a cap dump back, not a 2nd and 2 good prospects. That package would get the hawks kapanen

As always appreciate the effort but the trade is heavily in favor of the Leafs, that would be equitable for Kapannen not Zaits who's largely a cap dump. Even if by some miracle this trade were to happen, Jokiharju and Murphy would both be playing ahead of Zaits.

The Hawks have one of the deepest defensive prospect pools with already a logjam on defense. We ESPECIALLY don't need any RHD guys. On the left, Gus is Gardiner but $4.5M cheaper, absolutely no reason for him.

The lines are a mess especially up front. Alex Debrincat is one of the top 10 forwards in the league, why would you think he's a 4th liner? Strome is our 2C and Anisimov is our 3C, there is a reason for that. Caggs is a winger. Where is David Kampf? He is a lock for our 4C. Where is Perlini or Sikura? And why are we re-signing Kruger?
