Description
So far from what I can see, NYI fans on here want a hefty price for Leddy (and I believe he is worth as such), I just personally don't see a fit with MTL at the current asking price on here with the reports that Bergevin would want to spend assets on a YOUNG Dman, and the roster players we typically see Habs fans on here try and trade (Tatar, Drouin, Petry, etc.) realistically are not on the trade block.

So, as always, hypothetically speaking. If Lou and the Isles can't find a good deal and decide to keep Leddy. What would be the price for one of Pelech or Toews if they were made available???

Toews price would be considerably higher than what fans are hoping Leddy can bring back. He's young, under team control and very very good. He's the only Islander that can compare to Leddy in skating ability and has above average offensive potential. Pelech was very good this season too and since his contract is so much lower than Leddy's he'd bring in a considerable haul as well. I can almost guarantee Toews is virtually untouchable. Seems as if the dmen they would trade are LD- Leddy, Hickey and Mayfield(RD)

Toews is our Leddy replacement once he gets traded. Trotz loves him. Wanted to keep Toews on the team out of camp last season..not going anywhere. Hickey could be had. Pelly is cheap can't see him being dealt

Very informative. Thanks! So from what I gather Toews is basically a no go (fair enough). Pelech could be had at the right price, but his price is inflated for what he brings due to a great contract. Am I off?

As I said this is just hypothetically speaking. If they were a scenario that Lou just isn't getting the offers he's hoping for for Leddy (you NYI fans can't always be spoiled with Hamonic type deals lol), and he decides to keep him. You all seem pretty convinced he's gone though...

I think it's the worst kept secret that Lou is shopping Leddy and Hickey. There should definitely be interested in Leds. Young, good skater, puck mover with some term left. A package of picks/prospects or a top-6 forward isn't out of the question.

Pretty much right on Pelech. I wouldn't trade him for a mid round pick. Maybe Andrew Shaw straight up? Honestly not sure how much he's valued in Montreal. I could see him as 3RW and a PK guy

Hi blazingbat, I think your order is right. It's about marginal value, and getting a top 4 d for $700k, $1.6m, $2m provides great marginal value (value over what it would cost to sign a similar player). Now, jury is out on Mayfield as top 4, but hes at least an elite 5/6 on a great contract. That's why isles fans are asking for kapanen for Mayfield, on talent alone its lopsided but factor in contracts and it's much more even.

The discussion on toews or pulock realistically starts with someone like domi plus Suzuki and a pick. (I think kotkaniemi is too much, but not out of the question). Or, take on salary (ladd, boychuk, komarov, clutterbuck) and keep domi. Something like that.

As for leddy, I would say he is pretty adequately paid for a 3/4 lhd (so little marginal value), has term, and still can skate. I'd say high end is a mid 1st or b+ prospect, floor would be high 2nd. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle (2 2nds?). That's probably the reason for all the proposed leddy trades, it just seems most realistic.
