Is Konecny the on you'd target for the long term extension over Sanheim and Provorov?

I don't see the backup getting that much. At this point, especially as I think you could get Reimer cheaply at $1.7m, you might as well just see what the UFA market looks like. How many teams need more goalies? If you can get any of Talbot, Elliott, McElhinney, or Reimer sub-$2m I'd just take the cheapest. Really you're aiming at them playing 30 games tops plus the goaltening in the AHL should be stronger if someone has to step in for a few games.

I just think it's Talbot because of the relationship with Hart. As for TK, I think the difference between a bridge and a long-term deal is narrower than the other 2 would be which is why I did it this way.

Think they could squeeze a 3rd year on Provorov's deal? It'd be nice to set it up with him needing a big contract when Giroux is coming off.

If I were Provy, I wouldn't take 3. He knows how good he is, as do we. I would prefer we lock him up for 8 at $6.75 or less but Fletcher **** the bed on that one.

They can still do 8 years by $7 Million for Provorov. They have to bridge Konecny and Sanheim though. They need to lock up Sanheim or Provorov this summer. The longer they wait the more likely they end up costing $11 or $12 million/year. I prefer bridging Konecny. While I feel he's an important part of the core here, he's also the most replaceable with the upcoming prospects.
