Description
Just taking a look at the prospects and potential future of the Kings, if things go well. Here's to hoping Vilardi gets healthy. Eventually Kopi drops down to 3C and let's Vilardi and Turcotte duke it out for 1C/2C slots.

Some decent sized holes at 1 RW and 1LD. I think Anderson is a top-4 defenseman potential, not top 2. Toffoli has shown he's had trouble playing on the 1st line.

Risky spots -- Does Grundstrom become a top line winger? Probably not.

Strengths -- 1) Clearly the center depth. Kupari was also drafted as a center, but speculation is that he'll be better suited to wing in the NHL. Akil Thomas, same thing.
2) The right side defense looks really really solid, and the left side looks really good minus a guy that's really meant for 1LD. We'll see if any of the guys step up and become something special.
3) More talent on the wings than the Kings have seen in ages.

Turcotte has a higher ceiling than Vilardi. I think he wins the 2C spot and Vilardi plays on the wing.

I think Kempe is the 3C of the future for LA. His two-way game is exceptional, even if the offensive production doesn't materialize. As long as he can continue to improve on faceoffs, I think he'll be in this spot for a long time. Wouldn't mind seeing a Swedish connection line of ****emo-Kempe-Grundstrom in the future.

Kings still need another top-six LW.

I've heard Vilardi/Turcotte are pretty similar in terms of talent level, just different play styles. I'm totally fine with either one of them taking the 1C slot.

I know that the Kings want Kempe as a center, but I'm really hoping JAD forces them to push Kempe to the wing. I think his straight-line speed can be more used there, with maybe a turn at the center on the 2PP for his zone entries.

I considered putting ***emo on the list, but I don't know enough about him yet.

Yup, look for a top winger (Lafrenierre anyone? ;P) to be taken in the draft next year. That or a 1LD to go next to Doughty. Need to get Forbort off of that spot ASAP.

Poor ****emo's name doesn't make it past the censors.

I think Kempe's speed is more suited for center, especially if they put him on the third line. Wingers don't have as much defensive responsibility, so Kempe's speed would be used relatively one-dimensionally. At center, Kempe could get involved in the scoring rush, then rush back to play defense if the puck is turned over. JAD won't be able to do that. It would allow the Kings to increase the productivity of the third line without sacrificing on defensive responsibility.

We can pray for Lafreniere, but if this year's draft lottery taught us anything, it's that it's very unlikely to happen no matter how the Kings do next season. Hopefully they can make some deals that will get the Kings another 1st round pick in next year's draft.

Very much on the same page as you except for Kempe, which is totally fine. I get why the Kings want him there, and I see the skill set that makes them want it. He just hasn't seemed to put it together in my opinion.

The Lafreniere comment was very tongue-in-cheek because of the exact same thing you said with regards to this year's lottery. I also don't think the Kings finish as poorly as they did this year, so that pick will even more out of reach with regards to probability. Not sure who the Kings can swing for another 1st, but I'm hoping they figure that out as well.
