I know this trade is unlikely, Clarkson is header to LTIR, etc. I wish they made it so LTIR was factored into the cap.

If the Jackets are sending Milano and Nutivaara, I dont think they will take on the Clarkson contract. Gusev, does have the potential but has not played in the NHL, he is an uncertainty. I think something else would need to go back to CBJ to take on the Clarkson contract, Vegas set that price when this contract was traded 2 years ago. While there were many pieces involved, it effectively cost Columbus a 1st rounder and 2nd rounder to shed that contract. Yes there are two fewer years on the contract but the difference between Nutivaara/Milano and Gusev is not worth taking on the Clarkson contract.

Great Article! I think CBJ will be very weary of what they send for Gusev because of how the Panarin situation eventually went down. I would be happy if CBJ gave Gusev a chance. I think Milano would do well in VGK system and if VGK are only expecting a 2nd and 3rd, Milano and a pick or D (Kukan/Carlsson) might interest them.
